Many congratulations to the School of Hospitality & Creative Arts at the Management & Science University (MSU), Sha Alam, Malaysia on being accredited as APIEM`s first International Centre of Excellence **** in Malaysia. This is a tremendous achievement and accolade for MSU as it recognises that its BA Event Management degree and Diploma in Event Management course have been audited by APIEM as being of an international standard. This is great news for the events industry in Malaysia because when they recruit event management graduates from MSU they can be assured that these graduates are some of the best in Asia to be working in the events industry. Likewise, when students in Malaysia are researching universities at which to study events management they can be confident that the education they will receive at MSU is comparable to the best events management courses in the whole of the Asia Pacific region.
MSU is APIEM`s 12th International Centre of Excellence and joins our network of universities in Taiwan, the Philippines and Indonesia. As an APIEM ICE **** the faculty who teach on MSU`s event management courses will be encouraged to research and write articles for publication in APIEM`s international scientific journal – the Asia Pacific International Events Management Journal.
Dr Karen Fernandez, APIEM`s Vice President for Education & Accreditation conducted the audit at MSU and was highly impressed with the preparations that the School had put in place for her visit. In conducting the audit all areas of the International Centre of Excellence audit criteria were fully met. Dr Fernandez was particularly impressed with MSU`s teaching, the learning resources and the students she met. Indeed, one group of students won the `best student paper` prize that was awarded at the ApaCHRIE conference that was held in Bali in May.
Professor David Hind, President of APIEM will visit MSU in November to award the ICE **** certificate, to give presentations to students and faculty. In addition, he will discuss with senior colleagues at MSU and in the School how MSU and APIEM can collaborate to hold APIEM`s first international conference to be held at MSU in 2018.
APIEM extends a very warm welcome to the School of Hospitality & Creative Arts and congratulates its Dean, faculty colleagues and students on achieving the accolade of being APIEM`s 1st International Centre of Excellence **** in Malaysia. All at APIEM very much look forward to working with you in the years ahead.
